Community of Practice – Enriching Future-Ready Education with GenAI and Beyond

Community of Practice – Enriching Future-Ready Education with GenAI and Beyond
Organized by Teaching and Learning Innovation Centre (TALIC)

CoPOfficial Launch EventAbout Us

The Community of Practice (CoP) on “Enriching Future-Ready Education with GenAI and Beyond” is a newly established initiative under the Hong Kong Teaching Excellence Alliance (HKTEA) and supported by the UGC FITE-IICA. It aims to bring together educators, administrators, and experts from Hong Kong’s higher education sector, as well as those from HEIs around the world, to drive innovative implementation, share best practices, and strategize for the age of generative AI (GenAI).
GenAI impacts education, the workforce, daily life, and all stakeholders, making it crucial to enhance our pedagogical practices to better prepare students for the future. It also reshapes teaching and learning, prompting HEIs to rethink education, redesign learning content and assessments, and offer personalised and interactive educational experiences. Through workshops, events, and partnerships with local and international experts, our CoP seeks to advance education development and research, address shared challenges, pilot innovative approaches, and enhance learning outcomes.
This CoP proposes to build a community and act as a platform to:

  • gather local and international teachers in HEIs and increase their interest in, and capacity of, enriching future-ready education with the use of GenAI and beyond;
  • serve as a space for members to share and exchange ideas on the theme and its potential and applications, facilitating future research and project collaborations;
  • promote collaboration between teachers across institutions, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and community building;
  • encourage collaboration between institutions and EdTech industries, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and exchange of ideas on product assessment, and
  • provide updates on the theme to staff in both the UGC and the self-financed institutions and offer informed discussion opportunities across these two sectors.
  • The official launch event for this CoP will take place on Tuesday, 11 March 2025, 4:00PM-6:00PM HKT at the Graduate House, the University of Hong Kong. It will feature talks by industry professionals in the field of AI as well as outline the plans and upcoming events of the CoP.
    We are also pleased to announce that Mr. Henry Hooi, Chief Strategic Advisor of Digital Domain, and Professor James Tang, Secretary-General of the UGC, will join us as the Guests of Honour.
    All those engaged in AI-related activities, including research, teaching, and more, are most welcome to join.
