Abstracts
This workshop brings together experts and practitioners in the area of blended learning. For teachers who are thinking of using some sort of online/video/e-learning in their classroom, you are highly encouraged to come and participate in this workshop. The speakers have vast experience in the implementation in their classroom, they will be happy to discuss with you on your individual case.


About the Speakers
Professor Bob Fox
Office of the PVC (Education), UNSW Sydney

Professor Bob Fox, Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), The University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. He holds a concurrent appointment as Professor of Innovation in Higher Education (AD), School of Education, UNSW. Professor Fox was awarded the HKU Teaching Fellowship for excellence in teaching. Between 2000-2013 he was Associate Professor and later Deputy Director, Centre for Information Technology in Education, Faculty of Education at HKU with one year at the Chinese University of Hong Kong as Professor and Associate Director, Centre for Learning Enhancement and Research before returning to HKU in 2009. He was also Assistant Dean (Learning Environments), Faculty of Education, HKU for the last two and a half years at HKU. Before working at HKU he was Associate Director and senior lecturer of the Centre for the Advancement of Education at Curtin University, Australia for 13 years; senior lecturer at the Hong Kong Vocational Training Council for four years; a TEFL teacher for five years in England, Hong Kong and Spain and further education lecturer for two years in England. Bob Fox has over 30 years-experience in teaching and research in Australia, South East Asia and Great Britain. His research focuses on learning and teaching innovation and change in higher education; technological practice and curriculum change; learning spaces; blended and open learning. He has published widely on these topics.

Dr Nai Sum WONG

Dr. N.S. Wong obtained both the degree of Bachelor of Science and Master of Philosophy from the University of Hong Kong. He obtained the Ph.D. degree from the University of Birmingham in UK. Dr. N.S.Wong’s area of research interest has always been in the field of cellular signal transduction mechanisms in health and diseases. Dr. N.S.Wong has long years of experience in teaching biochemistry, particularly in the subject of metabolism to undergraduates of both professional and non-professional health science programs. He is especially interested in exploring how basic science in general, and metabolism in particular should be taught to students of professional health programs to better serve the public. He is also interested in exploring ways by which a research culture could be developed in an undergraduate curriculum. Dr. N.S.Wong is currently an associate professor in the School of Biomedical Sciences of the LKS Faculty of medicine of this university.

Dr. Allan Yuen

Allan H.K. Yuen is currently Associate Professor in Information and Technology Studies, Faculty of Education at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). Dr. Yuen joined HKU in 1997, and his primary research interests focus on technology adoption and educational change, evaluation of e-learning and pedagogical innovations, social and cultural aspects of ICT education, and digital equity in education. He has led more than 50 research and development projects supported by various research funding bodies, such as University Grants Committee (UGC), Research Grants Council (RGC), Quality Education Fund (QEF), UNESCO, government agencies, and business organizations. He publishes widely in the aforementioned areas and has over 270 publications including books, monographs, book chapters, journal articles, conference papers, and research reports. His recent co-authored book publications include: ‘Educational Technology Program and Project Evaluation’ (2016; Routledge), ‘Nurturing the Digital Generation: A Participatory Approach’ (2015; HKU: CITE), ‘Educational Innovations beyond Technology: Nurturing Leadership and Establishing Learning Organizations’ (2011; Springer), and ‘The Changing Face of Education in Hong Kong: Transition into the 21st Century’ (2010; HKU: CITE).
