Abstract
The use of technology and visual media for teaching and learning has been developing quickly in recent years, teaching scholars in different places have adopted different interesting and innovative practices. The presenter invited a teaching scholar from the University of Western Australian, Professor Natalie Skead, to visit HKU under the Teaching Exchange Fellowship scheme to share her experience and innovative teaching practices, in particular, with the use of visual media. Prof Skead discussed and demonstrated the use of, among other things, emoji, short filmed movie, in her teaching. Drawing on the few seminars delivered by Prof Skead during her visit and the exchange of ideas with her, the presenter will share her experience and insights gained from Prof Skead’s visit, and she will also discuss her reflections on how much we can adopt any of these practices locally in different disciplines.
